Rekey vs Replace Guide
Help deciding whether to rekey or replace, including rentals.
View service →New keys, same locks. We rekey house locks at your Phoenix home so every old key stops working, without replacing the hardware you already have.
When we rekey house locks in Phoenix, we change the pins inside each lock cylinder so it only works with a new key. The lock stays on the door; the old keys become useless.
The technician removes the cylinder, takes out the old pin set and loads new pins cut to a new key. Then it goes back on the door and gets tested with the new key. It is the quickest way to secure a home you just bought, since you never know how many copies the previous owners, contractors or agents handed out.
No need to buy new locks that already work.

Four steps take every door in your home from the old key to a brand-new one, with the hardware left in place.
We walk the house with you and list every keyed lock: front knob, deadbolts, side door, patio and the door from the garage into the house.
Each cylinder is removed from its lock body and the plug is slid out, exposing the old pin stack that matched the previous keys.
Fresh pins are loaded to match one new key, so a single key can run every door. The old pins are discarded and the old keys go dead.
Cylinders go back in and every door is tested with the new key from outside and inside, then you get the new copies in hand.
These are the main factors that shape the price to rekey house locks in Phoenix.
Each knob, deadbolt and handleset has its own cylinder to rekey.
Most common brands rekey easily; some specialty brands need specific pins.
Mixing brands onto one key may need a compatible keyway.
Extra copies of the new key can be cut during the visit.
Worn or damaged cylinders may need replacement instead.
Backup key cylinders on smart locks can usually be rekeyed too.
